2022: A Space Modesty - Collaborating with Drawmama in NFT Art

When I started my adventure in the NFT world in 2020, I was introduced to several artists who are quite well known in Indonesia, including Marishka Soekarna, or often known as Drawmama. Drawmama's works often feature female figures with a visual object in the form of floral nuances, and her work is very thick with feminine nuances.

When I met Drawmama in the NFT space, I was immediately drawn to her unique style and the interesting elements that she brings to her works. I often thought about asking her to create a joint work, which was eventually realized in the form of an NFT minted on the Foundation platform.

In our collaboration, I combined Drawmama's work in the form of 2-dimensional illustrations with my own 3D works. I felt as if I was exploring the 2-dimensional world of Drawmama with interesting nuances of color and visual elements. Some of the characters that I included in the "Drawmama universe" were my own creations, such as Theodore, Yerbies, G-Funk and Sky Insect, along with some 3D still elements that I combined to create a unique visual experience. The two worlds of our work blended together, resulting in a looping animation with audio created by Drawmama that gave a deeper whimsical feel.

The process of making the work began with Drawmama creating her visual asset in the form of a still image with a background layer that was separate from the main object. After that, I processed the assets from Drawmama into dynamic animations. I also prepared some of my 3D assets, which I rendered with a green screen background. Then, I input my characters into the Drawmama animation, which was finally finished with color adjustments to blend in with each other, and included the audio that had been provided by Drawmama.

In this collaboration, we didn't focus too much on the concept, but just had fun through each other's work and created a new world from the merging of these two different styles. It was always interesting to be able to collaborate with an artist who has a very different style from what I'm used to creating, resulting in a visual combination that collides but blends into an interesting whole.

It's been an honor for me to collaborate with Drawmama, a well-known visual artist in Indonesia. I'm grateful that we could meet each other in the NFT space and have the opportunity to work together on this project.
